Auction end date: 3/15/2012
Sale price: $125
Details: No. 49 of 250.
NOTE: there is no evidence that this is a legitimate Dali image, or that it was ever meant for print production; the signature is a common and obvious forgery; this print is an obvious fake.

Original Intaglio Restrike Etching: "Vision of Venice (Gondola)."
Auction end date: 3/5/2012
Sale price: $400
Details: 1976 Levine & Levine; No. EA; 12" x 3" sepia image on Arches 18" x 10" paper.
NOTE: purports to be original etching #76-2 (Field, p. 102), however there are no unnumbered EA prints of this image. Field states that the Dali signature on this print is "not acceptable" (p. 237). I tend to agree--doesn't look correct. This print is most likely a counterfeit/forgery NOT signed by Dali.

"Album" Engraving Facsimile Print: "(Soft) Telephone."
Auction end date: 3/4/2012
Sale price: $146
Details: This appears to be a late second edition engraving from the Album of 15 Gravures (Field #68-4, pp. 46-7) with color added.

Suspect "Loup Edition" Les Diners de Gala Litho: Les Delices Petits Martyrs--SELLS AGAIN...AND AGAIN!!!
Auction end date: 2/25/2012
Sale price: $1325
Details: 75 x 56cm BFK Rives paper; No. 45 of 195.
Note: the paper size and the edition of 195 is consistent with an edition advertised circa 1978 by Jean-Paul Loup (published by Lavigne) subsequent to the original distribution of 395 on Rives (Field, p. 110). Significant controversies and contradictions surround this extended edition of prints, and not all signatures are by Dali's hand (Field, p.235). In my opinion, the signature pictured on this print is a forgery, making this print a counterfeit.
This exact print was sold on eBay, by the same seller, on the following dates and for the following prices (USD):

Dali's "Deux Fatrasies" Fraudulent Etching.
Auction end date: 2/19/2012
Sale price: $106
Details: 8.5" x 9.4"; No. EA; forged pencil signature. The title of this etching is actually "Diogene en Son Tonneau" from the book Deux Fatrasies (Field catalog #63-2(A), p. 23). The plate was canceled with a single hole in the upper left, where the moon appears! This moon identifies the print as one from a fraudulent edition made by Leon Amiel (Field catalog, pp. 238 & 240). Dali would not sign a fraudulent print, so the signature is forged.

Salvador Dali Etching FORGERY: Song of Songs of Solomon: "Grapes" (Let him kiss mee...).
Auction end date: 2/10/2012
Sale price: $200
Details: No. EA.
NOTE: This purports to be an original etching from the "Song of Songs of Solomon" intaglio suite officially titled Let him kiss mee with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine (Field #71-17B; p. 70). In fact, this print is a forgery. It is a Leon Amiel restrike (Field p. 238). In the best case scenario, this forgery is made from the original plate, but the signature is not by the hand of Dali (In my opinion, a decent signature, but the "D" is all wrong). Apparently comes with a COA from Marlin Art, Inc. out of Deer Park, NY.

"Don Quixote" Counterfeit Print.
Auction end date: 1/27/2012
Sale price: $133
Details: 24" x 16"; No. 131 of 300; came from a Honolulu estate with no COA.
NOTE: appears to be an original lithograph from the Foret edition of "Pages choisies de Don Quichotte de la Mancha" titled L'age d'or (Field #57-1B), however this is a counterfeit print (see Field p. 259). The size is much larger than the authentic print and the edition size is incorrect. In addition, the signature looks forged.

Collectors' Guild Alice in Wonderland Lithograph Forgery: The Queen's Party.
Auction end date: 1/15/2012
Sale price: $400
Details: COA misidentifies it as "The Queen's Party" (actually "Queen's Croquet Ground"); No. P XXXVI of CLL; 26 x 17.5 in. mat size; about 20 x 28 in. paper.
NOTE: this is not an original intaglio #69-5(I) found in Field catalog pp. 36-37; this is likely a counterfeit as identified in Field catalog p. 259; the signature appears to be a forgery (see also The Great Dali Art Fraud & Other Deceptions by Lee Catterall, pp. 152-153).

Details: purports to be from the limited edition print suite "La quete du Graal" titled Combat devant la Dame de Malehout (Field catalog #75-9F, p. 108); 67 cm x 51cm Japon; No. EA.
NOTE: this print does not exist as unnumbered EA on Japon paper, and the paper size is all wrong. It appears to be a forgery, though IMO the signature looks darn good.
NOTE: This exact print was sold on eBay, by the same seller, on the following dates and for the following prices (USD):
- 2/18/2012 for 920 GBP, $1148 USD;
- 7/8/2012 for 487 GBP, $766 USD.
We will no longer publish auction results of this print, and a number of other prints being sold by eBay user antik-planet-world, because repeated sales of the same prints makes the auction results appear unreliable.

"Song of Songs of Solomon" FORGERY: "Looke not upon mee ..." ("Reclining Nude").
Auction end date: 1/5/2012
Sale price: $165

NOTE: purports to be original intaglio #71-17C (Field pp. 70-71), but it is a forgery. Original prints from this suite are not marked EA, and the paper size is consistent with known forgeries (Field p. 238). The signature is suspect.

Auction end date: 1/5/2012
Sale price: $90
Details: none provided.
NOTE: purports to be original intaglio from Mythology print suite #63-3P (Athena), but is clearly an unauthorized print. The title "God of War" is incorrect, the quality of the print is lacking, the signature is poor, and is there ever a slash (/) in E.A.? There are known counterfeits from this suite (Field p.261).

FORGERY: "Paranoic Village."
Auction end date: 1/1/2012

Dali's "Deux Fatrasies" Fraudulent Etching.
Auction end date: 1/1/2011
Sale price: $85
Details: Don't be fooled by the Collector's Guild Don Quixote COA attached to the back of this fraudulent etching. 238 & 240).

"After" Dali Pastiche: "Cosmic Cavalier Horseman."
Auction end date: 12/29/2011
Sale price: $390
Details: 14" x 19"; No. EA.
NOTE: Field catalog states that this print is not an image created by Dali, but a pastiche created by an unknown hand, published by Leon Amiel circa 1982, which is later than the date Dali stopped signing prints on paper (Field p. 238). Therefore, this is a Dali imitation, and the signature is a forgery (Field p. 233).

Salvador Dali Etching FORGERY: Song of Songs of Solomon: "Grapes" (Let him kiss mee...).
Auction end date: 12/18/2011
Sale price: $331
Details: 10" x 16" image on Arches paper, No. EA.
NOTE: This purports to be an original etching from the "Song of Songs of Solomon" intaglio suite officially titled Let him kiss mee with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine (Field #71-17B; p. 70). In fact, this print is a forgery. It is a Leon Amiel (yikes!) restrike (Field p. 238). The COA title "Grapes" makes this determination easy. A COA like this affixed to the back of any Dali print is usually a bad sign. Getting the title of the print incorrect only seals the deal. In the best case scenario, this forgery is made from the original plate, but the signature is not by the hand of Dali.
